Programme Note #1: The Adventures of Mr. Toad
JB wrote “This year we have chosen a Christmas show based on the children’s classic, Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in the Willows. We ask you to use your imagination and come and visit the animals who live on or near a riverbank somewhere in your dreams. This is a gentle tale of one in particular – the conceited, impulsive Mr. Toad whose faithful friends despair of reforming him but carry on trying. Then there are the other lot – ‘if you go down to the woods today’ – not teddy bears but weasels! Trouble! However, as in all good stories, the heroes are brave and the baddies are cowards and everything turns out for the best – or does it?”
